New leaves are growing on my leaves, and the water sprite is planted. After the new leaves fall off, won't they float to the top? Does that mean I have to manually plant the baby water sprite into the gravel, or will the roots have already planted themselves?

The small plantlets will float to the surface when they detach. It is a good idea to let them float for a while as the roots get much longer which makes them easier to plant.

How long will it be before they detach? There are already two leaves about the size of a centimeter each, and they haven't detached yet.

Varys. I've had some in a still tank which were 50-60mm across and still attatched. If yo want to, you can break them off of course, it is just much easier to handle them when they get larger.
