Hi all

I've had my Juwel 80 set up since December, all is well and the fish seem happy but, there has always been a white dust like debris in the water. I call it dust like because it is so small you can only see it when the light is on.

I am soon to be building a 325 ltr tank so I bought a TetraTec EX 1200 (at reduced flow of course) and set it up on the Juwel 80 along side the existing internal filter, so as to be cycled ready for the change over.
It has made a marked difference to the clarity of the water but the dust is still there.

My question is simply, is the 'dust' normal or is something amiss with the tank?

TIA

Both the internal Juwel and the external TetraTec have floss.

The particles are really small and there isn't enough to cloud the water.

You could try adding some Seachem Clarity, or similar, and see if the 'dust' goes away. This product 'clumps' dust together, making it easier for the filter to remove it.

Is the tank planted? It may be plant debris, or even oxygen bubbles (pearling) if your lucky!

The tank isn't planted.
The possibility of them being oxygen bubbles had crossed my mind. They seem to just hover round the tank going with the water flow rather than float to the surface. But if that's what they are, what is the solution? The internal Juwel filter has only a gentle flow and I have just the one airstone running.

I will certainly try some of the seachem clarity tho.

Thanks for the advice :good:
