Every water test is the same. Ammonia- none detected. Nitrites 0 ppm, Nitrates well in the safe zone. pH slightly acid not fluctuating. Moderate hardness. Temp a balmy 77 F. Regular water changes with same temp water.
The water is good enough that the Danios spawned, the eggs they didn't eat hatched and the fry I caught are still alive and must be a week old. So why do my fish have parasites? They are all about a year old and no new fish were added. It's driving me crazy to read everywhere about water quality being to blame for parasites and illness. The water quality is damn near perfect. No spikes, no sudden changes.
How long can parasites lay dormant in an unused tank? I scrubbed it with salt, let in sit with salty water in it and rinsed it like mad. Could something survive that after years of dryness?
