I am thinking about buying a RO kit and I was curious to see if this is a good one for aquarium use? I do not know much about them nor how they operate or even how they need to be hooked up.
thanks

Ya that would work You usually have 3 water lines an orange blue and yellow. The yellow connects to your faucet, the orange one is the waste line and you put that down the drain and the blue line is your product water thats the water you can use. The manufacturer should give you more instructions on how to set it up and operate it.
is the ro unit above going to be a good one to get rid of all of the "bad' stuff from the water? Does it have the right membranes ect for saltwater use?
I share a 3 stage with my buddy across the hall that has a 75 gallon reef tank. We hooked the RO unit up to his ice maker in his fridge, since he doesn't like ice cubes in his drinks. It's a bummer when you have a cookouts. BYOI.
Yes it has the TFC membrane on it with this you will get 98% pure water plus the granular Carbon to remove chlorine plus the deionized filter on it so your product water is going to be pureer then 99.8% water so basically with all those filters you are getting 100% water nothing in there but H2O literally.
so is it true you should add things to your ro water?? I heard if it is to pure then you need to add supplements. if that is true which i am not sure if it is, what needs to be added
Yes you do as RO water is very unstable Ph wise so you put minerals back in the water to bring hardness and stabalize Ph here is one that I use called OSMO Prep that Kent Marine makes. Kent Marine is one of my favorite companies for saltwater.
How long does it take to get a gallon of water from, say, a 3 stage unit?
I'm seriously considering getting one now, but I want something that will do the job quickly (ie, not take hours and hours on end just to fill the 220 gallon tank I'm getting in a few weeks).
Awesome. I will have to talk to my mom about getting one (she pays for everything). We have well water, and our water is full of phosphorous because the golf course down the road seems to ignore the laws about fertilizing their grass...
