Hi, my tank is running nicely now, we have finished cycling, and my 7 fish are still with me. I have an 89 litre tank, 30" by 12" and is 14" high. I have a fluval 2+ and after taking out my UG filter and on much advice have put in an external, as "you can never have too much filtration"

Does the flow that comes from the filters efect the fish, I have both filters at opposite ends, and placed fairly near the top of the water.
I am worried that the flow is too fast as the movement at the top of the water is more than it was. Should they cope well with it.

Also my external is slightly noisy, it is not in a closed cupboard and is in the front room, any ideas to sound block it by wrapping it in sound blocker, if there is such a thing and where can i get it.

If you have fish that come from calm surface waters they will not be happy with the higher flow but fish from the riffles of a stream would really enjoy it. If your filter is a canister type and it makes a gurgling sound there is most likely a small amount of air space in the top. If you turn it off the air should travel up either the inlet or outlet and then you can restart.
