I have recently upgraded from a 50gal rectangular tank to a 125gal diamond shaped tank.
When I upgraded I also upgraded from a HOB(Hang on back) filter to a cannister filter with input/output tubes.
The filter I was using is a tetra whisper for a 50-70 gal tank, filter I use now is a Rena xp3 canister filter for a 175gal tank.
My new filter is twice as powerful but seems to only suck up half as much fish waste, food and other floating junk..I believe this is a water flow issue and no matter where I've directed my output I still get same issue.
Currently I have the jet nozzle pointed twords the front of my tank and the input at the very back in the triangle of the diamond(local fish store told me this was best solution). The filter also came with a spraybar that I've also tried using and ended up with same result....aimlessly floating fish waste.
I want to avoid using a power head as much as possible. Anyone have any suggestions??
Thanks,
Ryan
