Water Flow Direction

I have a 260l Jewel Vision tank with an external and internal filter. At the moment the spray bar from the external points from the back to the front, extending across half the tank. The internal points diagonally downwards skimming the sand.

Ive never really been sure if I've got this right. Wondering if anyone else runs a similar setup or what they do?

I don't think the direction matters. If you have plants the idea is to have enough flow to make the plants to sway gently.

if it were a river tank setup than unidirectional flow would be better, but in a standard tank then it does not really matter as long as it is not extreme.
