ok just need a a little advice. Im trying to make my weekly water changes a little easier, so was wonder if filling my tank with a hose is a ok method. my biggest concern is how do i add the de chlorinator, and my chiclid salt Buffer. Is it afe to add them to the water as i fill little by little or WHAT. Ive came up with a good way of regulating the temp as i fill the tank but adding my other stuff worries me.

Thanks again everyone on here has been alot of help :D

well I dont use either of those tatic I store water 2-3 days before water change mostly have water stored right after water changed incase of need for any accident like ich or other disease. I put my water in a huge container like it can load up to 150g of water and treat the water with conditioner and some aquarium salt. This way bad bacteria will die in a few days and u can use the water when ever u need :). But ofcourse u have to have to space to put a large container first. I think this is the best as I heard from alot of those expert they all do water change like this.

I could tell you what my aquarium shop keeper told me, and he seems to be the guy that all of the "chain" pet stores (Petsmart, Animal Adventures, Petco) go to for advice when they have questions...he told me that's how I should do it, using the gravel vacuuming hose I have, just reversing it; he adds the dechlorinater as he refills the tanks. I am just not that co-ordinated and I only have smaller tanks so I refill them gallon by gallon bottles with the de-chlor added in already...but I can't see any way other than with a hose that you could do that 125 gal tank! :)

the only way ive been doin it is with good old 5 gal buckets :S :S :S let me tell u it gets to be a headache or sould i say a back ache. Ive heard o people using a hose and adding de chlor befor they start to refill but was wondering if this is toltally safe, also my salt buffer????

I suggest u get a longer hose its a pain in the ass to do water change if u just use bucket I use the hose get tap water and refill my container right away. And I also suffer the same problem that u have lol but mine bucket is 4 g lol non stop :X transporting of water to each tank. Its even more tire then working in a pet store I'm telling u atleast they have better equiment then us. And to ur answer adding dechlor and salt right away might work. But since I live in canada our water have a high percentage of ich bacteria specailly where I live I only can use tap water. Even after condition to remove chlor it still takes 3 days for them to die. I dont know about u maybe ur country water is alot better. But I my self wouldn't add water right away even with those stuff. I would leave it 1-2 days and use 2xheater to heat the water so it will be on exact temperature to my tank while I'm changing water.

I use a python to refil my tank. What I do is add the dechlor right before I start filling the tank. It doesn't seem to bother my fish too much. As for the salt, maybe measure out the amount you would be adding to your tank, disolve it in a cup of tank water, then slowly add it as you add the water?

All you need to do is dissolve the salts in some water, add dechlorinator, add salts, fill tank. It's not very complicated and works well. You can sit there and add the salt a bit at a time as you fill, but adding it before or after has worked plenty fine for me.

Theres nothing wrong with using a hose to fill your tank. Make sure you run a little water through the hose before you start to fill the tank. Declorinator can be added while filling the tank as the churning of the water from the hose will spread the dechlorinator around the tank.

Hey thanks for the suggestions i will give it a try next weekend maybe ill save my back  Like i said everyone on here has been a big help

THANKS AGAIN
