Water Changes

Use the tank thermometer as a stirer in the bucket and add hot water until you hit ~25C ;)

For my Rio240, that means ~25% hot to 75% cold.

you should be able to get it within a degree or 2 just by placing your hand in the new water. it doesnt have to be spot on but as close as you can get :good:

sorry for thread stealing, but is it ok to use hot? as its going through the boiler and can pick up trace elements? iv heard people prefer to use a small amount of kettle water?

It's fine to use hot water from the boiler. Maybe if you're keeping marine inverts or something that's terribly sensitve it might be better to use boiled from the kettle, but for the vast majority of fish it's not neccessary.

Using a good dechlorinator such as Seachem Prime will ensure the water is perfectly ok for adding to your tank.

I usually add the Prime then leave the water to 'sit' in buckets for a little while before adding to my tank. I have no bother when using hot water to get the temp match. ;)
