Hi all!!

my tank has been up and running for 3 months, there are plenty of plants and fish in there all seem to be happy and healthy. I havent been doing regular water changes since cycling but water readings are still good and as i say the fish seem to be healthy. Do i need to be doing the changes or is the tank ok left naturally untill cleaning or top ups??
cheers people !

regular once a week changes are recommended and it will make sure ur fish stay happy and healthy :)

What are the readings, did you consider testing for total dissolved solids? You need to remove waste products that are not nitrates, as well as replenish minerals with the added water.

One reason you need to do regular water changes is that in the future you may want to add fish. The fish you have would probably get used to rising nitrates (among other things) in the water; if you add new fish, however, the high level of toxins in the water would either do them serious harm, or even kill them. Regular water changes are the cheapest way to keep a tank healthy. Buy the largest bottle of dechlorinator you can find - it'll work out at pennies per water change.
