Well if you didn't do the 90% water change at the end of your cycle, might be the reason why the 4 tetras died. Your nitrates are prob through the roof and you need to get them out. Seeing how there are already fish in there, you really shouldn't do a 90% change as this will prob just kill the remaining fish, so just do 30 to 40% changes every day until your nitrates are down around 5 to 10 ppm and then I would start adding more stock slowly.

For stocking ideas someone would need your tank size (gallons/liters, and dimensions LxWxH)

P.S. If you did you cycling with those fish...bad idea....tetras are very intolerant of poor water and you need very hardy fish to cycle a tank. I prefer to cycle without fish so that no fish have to deal with the stress in the tank, but there much better alternatives to tetras if your cycling your tank.

i messed my cycle up, the water settings are fine now....i lost the neons possibly due to the water, but it could have been that i was lucky to still have to as i have read they are not the best of fish to survive and i'm lucky to have 2 left
bad idea having those in to begin with but you live and learn, i didn't do the 90% water change, i'm presuming now i empty a 3rd of water out, but i'm not sure how often?
