As some may know i have had quite the time with my tank It is now over 2 months and the fish are great and the test levels are fine with exception to the nitrites which are over the danger level. The thing is the fish love it. They are colorful eating playing etc. I have been doing water changes etc for a few weeks. Nothing changes. Is it possible to get a bad test kit I am using the strip method. Nothing is getting the level down but nothing seems to be wrong the way it is. How much water should I change out this weekend?

Strips are notoriously inaccurate and difficult to read correctly. Invest in a master kit of liquid tests (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH) which will give a much easier and more accurate result.

I agree !!

I bought the test strips..and thought they were rubbish (sorry to people who like them :p ) So i went out and bought the Master Kit, and it was the best test kit i ever bought.....Its sooooooooooooooooo easy......

Thank you Clairel I think I will do that. My tank is absolutely beautiful and I cannot beleive that anything is wrong with the numbers. The fish are terrific we have such a fun time watching them play . Thanks for the advice..

Are you using the Tetra test strips? Note nowhere on the packaging does it say 'accurate', even though thats the first thing you look for in a test kit.
