Thanx yhbae! So its just like a big hose?
with a tap powered 'pump' on one end...

great product.
Oh ok... Do you add it on the tap or can you do it from a bucket or something?

it screws to the tap and with tthe water turned on, it causes suction in the hose which pumps the water out of the tank.

you then swap the valve on the tap and fill the tank back up (you MUST add declorinator to the tank as this is tap water going in)

one word: python.
I'm so happy I spent the $25 for a python when I bought my 75-gallon. Before the 75 was setup, when I did water changes on my 30-Gallon, I had a 5-Gallon bucket I'd syphon into, then put the water back 1-Gallon at a time.

Imagine doing that on a 75-Gallon. EGADS!

Now, all I have to do is pull out my long hose, hook it up to the sink, turn the water on and it'll syphon out water from the tank. Then when I'm ready to put the water back in, I first add Dechlorinator, then check the temp of the water and reverse the flow in the Python and everything's done.

And a nice plus with my python: It serves as a cat toy. They don't play with it, but they love to watch the water race back and forth. :)

must say that although I have only ever used my 'python' once(mine is a clone of the real python), it is great. My only downer is adding cold water back into the tank as mine is rigged to a cold only tap.

Word of advice - the main BIG feature of the python is the fact that you can syphon out a tank to a sink/drain that is not lower than the tank i.e. a kitchen sink or wash hand basin. Normally you need the height difference to make the water syphon out but the python 'sucks' it out in effect. If you have a garden/drive/outside drain that would be acessible to drain the tank to but for the want of a long piece of hose then look at just getting a long hose and a connector for one end that will suit your taps to refill it (garden hose style of connector). This will much cheaper and save water. :)
