Just wondering how youshould do a cycle with fish properly and how long it takes?

I brought home a rekord 70 home from work urm 2 weekends back and stuck 5 2 month old platty babies in there, waited 5 days and added 5 convict fry then another few days and 5 banjo cats then 1 eek and added 4 khuli loach and then the last 2 banjo cats

Theres Java jern on bogwood and a few other plants in there. I added 2 moss balls to the filter box straight away from my other tank which have been in there for ages ozzing with bacteria!!

For the past week my readings have been a tad raised so have been water changing daily which is keeping all levels at a good measure.

Yep i know i shouldn't of added so many fish so soon etc etc but just wondering on the common procedure for a fishy cycle?

Cycling with fish can take some time.

Because you priority shifts to the well being of the fish, than cultivating beneficial bacteria.

ah yea where as fishless with pure ammonia (which you can't easily get in the UK) you just chuck a huge ammount in which speeds up the bacteria building...??

tomorrow i'm going to pick up a filter bag from work and take some bio rings out my fluval 204 and stick them in the juwel filter box instead of the nitrate removal sponge.
