Water Changes On A 35l Carpeted Tank

Dumb question -

How do you guys with a carpet plant do water changes? My planted tank is about ready to set up and I was going to buy a cheep gravel vac thing to just suck the water out - is this the best option? Anyone able link me to a good tool for my water changes?

you could use a bit of hose then suck on one end. but gravel vaccing is unecassry, just wave it over the top to collect any detrius

yea in my planted tank with gravel i dont even gravel vac....i just take the water right from the top. i do two light gravel vacs a year...the plants seem to love the waste that drops down there...or so i imagine
