Water changes for a 1 gallon

I've heard stuff about partial and full water changes. Which one should I do? And how often? Right now I"ve been doing a full water change at least once a week. Is this good for my betta or bad? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

it seems kind of pointless to me to do partial water changes on such a small container. i change all of mine once a week. just be sure you are acclimating the betta each time and he will be a ok

I do a full water change 1 a week and they are fine. I have 12 so no complaints yet. But I always add a cup of the old water in aswell.
