Well for the past few months,
I have been changing my tank's water with Drinking water that i purchase with a
5 gallon jug, at my local produce market..

I was wondering is it ok to use faucet or hose water instead?
Driving to the produce market every weekend is a hassle..

So what types of water do you guys change with? And what do you guys do with the water after you removing it from the tank ?

tap water can vary greatly from spot to spot.

Mine is pretty good I use it. Some say to let the faucet run for a little while to let any water that was just sitting in the pipes not get into your tank.

I use tap(faucet) water when changing my tanks. We also drink this water though. The water we take out of our tanks we use to water our plants(house and garden).I do,however ,test my tap water as well as my tanks with all test kits.

Sefu, you don't give an indication of where you live.
Do you live somewhere where your tapwater is not safe for human consumption?
Do you have to buy all your drinking water?

Water conditioner and carbon filters will render most chemical contaminates harmless, but if the water has high levels of bacteria, then it's best to either boil it first or buy the drinking water.

Remember that boiling reduces hardness though.

I live in california..

By the way, faucet water, do you need to purchase one of those filters that change the water into "tap water" ?

Or can you just turn on the faucet and that water is good enough to use..

I have chemicals which help continmated water.

NovAqua and Amquel+

I live in NY and use tap water. I put in Stress Coat immediately afterwards and that seems to clear it up somewhat.

The water here, straight from the tap is perfectly good for human comsumption. Where I am we do use a Brita filter for filling the kettle, and cooking with as the water is very hard and produces a lot of scale.

I thought that the water conditioner/de-chlorinator stuff we use for water changers makes the water 100% safe.
