Hi All

Need some advice on water changes,

Do you need to use warm water when doing the change or will cold be ok.

And we live in a really strange water area, you can actually smell chlorine in it, Do i need to filter it all through a Britta filter or simular. Or can i just use tap water conditioner.

Thanks in advanced
Andy

Try to use a thermometer and add water at the same temperature as in your tank, if you add in water that is a lot colder than in your fish tank you will shock your fish!

I just add dechlorinator to my tap water and don't filter it in any way!

if you can smell the chlorine in it, contact your water supplier as they are providing you with an unhealthy supply, which is against one of the EU rules on the matter.
I would fill a bucket and add the dechlorinator before adding it to the tank, in this case.

Also cold water will be ok, but not freezing water.

Hi.
When I do a water change I use cold water from the tap and boil hot water from the kettle to get the water about the same temp as the tank. And as I mix the water in a bucket, I add water conditioner.
