Alright, I'll admit it, I'm obsessed with my fish, and want them to be as happy and healthy as possible...
but do I do too much for them?
I have 3 tanks currently: 29 gallon, 10 gallon, and 5 gallon.
In the 29 gallon: Twice a day I change 2 gallons of water out (4 gallons a day about 13.8% of the water) for 2 gallons, I do some gravel vac work, for the other 2 I just take water.
In the 10 gallon: Once a day I change 2 gallons of water while gravel vaccuming for 1 gallon (about 20% of the water)
In the 5 gallon: Once a day I change 1 gallon of water (no gravel, its just a hospital right now...) (about 20% of the water)
Is this TOO much? My fish all seem very happy, and my water levels are excellent. I always use dechlorinator, and I let the water sit in jugs for a few hours before putting them in the tank, so the temp is close.
I don't see any problems resulting from this, but is there anything I'm not aware of that would make this bad?
Early on, I got a lot of bad information (NOT from here obviously!
) and I lost some fish due to water problems, so ever since I've sort of been overcautious. In fact, I overfilter all my tanks:
The 29 gallon tank has a 30 gallon filter and a 20 gallon filter PLUS a pump and airstone
The 10 gallon tank has a 20 gallon filter PLUS a pump and airstone
The 5 gallon tank has a 10-20 gallon filter (flow turned down a tiny bit)
Am I going over the top here? I don't care if its more than I need, as long as it's good for the fish.
