Watchman Goby

I bought a Wheeler's Watchman on Saturday, amazing little fish, but he's only about an inch long. Being so small, after putting him in the tank my sixline wrasse took "a liking" to him, leaving the goby to hide during the day now. As soon as the lights go off, he's out and about and fine, but i'm worried about him eating.

He doesn't come out when I feed the other fish, so i thought i'd try to target feed him when the lights went out and he comes out. That ended in total failure, I ended up just blasting him in the face and him running off. I ended up dropping a few small sinking pellets in his area, but it was hard to tell if he ate them or not, because most of the time he sits absolutely still.

I'm up for suggestions, i'm also wondering, because of his small size, whether he could be rummaging around at all to find small pieces of food? I don't know whether watchman can be scavengers like that at all. I have seen him pick at things, and i'm assuming it was to eat them.

Shrimp gobies are fast little fish, able to dart out at passing food. Mine competes with my trigger and damsel. Try the target feeding again too.

The goby may just be settling in and stressed out. Don't fret it yet and don't scare it. If you have good circulation in the tank, food that you put into the tank should pass thru or by it's hole. If he's only 1 inch, small mysis, enriched baby brine and Cyclopeeze mixed up should give him a good spread. It's also a good demonstration of why the most aggressive fish (sixline) should always be added last. I never saw my watchman until my sixline passed on. Now he is out all the time. If the sixline continues to harass him, keep an eye on him for health...one of the two may have to go. They should be OK tho'. SH
