Washed My Mature Tank Gravel With Hot Water-did I Kill The Bacteria?

Hi guys,

My sister gave me some gravel from her mature tank for my new one. I foolishly washed it 3 times with hot water. Have I killed all the good bacteria by doing this or is there a chance some is left?

The gravel holds very little bacteria, most of it is in your filter But you could have another problem tho, most hot water runs through copper pipes, small amounts of it end up in the water that comes out of your tap. Copper is deadly to fish, so you might want to make sure you give it a good rinse in some dechlorinated water that's come from your cold water tap.
