I was in the lfs the other day and saw a box of laterite gravel for like $10. Instructions were there for adding in an established tank. Since Rose always championed it I bought the box and followed the instructions.

Very cloudy! One Boesemani Rainbow turned up dead (we are talking 10 min. I'm assuming heart attack at the stress/shock ... all other fish fine, water parameters all a-o-k).

But water is very, very cloudy. Will this go away? Have I done something here that will destroy my tank?

the dust settles in time ony a carbon filter will truely remove that dust or water changeing for a long time as i have done in the past. it sometimes harder to get rid of the gravel dust that we first think. the other fish will probably put up with it so long as it settles quickly (12 hours) i would say unless you have another tank ready to house the fish that its best ot leave them in therebetter to have slightly dusty water thats been cycled etc. try not to stir up the gravel and when you change say 10% of the water try takeing it putting the tube to some stired up gravel in a corner.

Yeah, I rinsed first.

I do have carbon filter (Eclipse 3 hood). It is much better this morning. So hopefully it'll all be ok and the rainbow just freaked, or inadvertantly got smooshed or somethign when I was mucking around. I hate to lose a Boesemani ... he was only around 8 months old and those guys are supposed to live a long time. Plus they are so nice ... gotta get antoher one soon.
