Well, at the beginning of this summer I had a mostly planted tank, some bulbs in to grow...

And now I have three lonesome little plants, as all the rest had been pulled up by my fantail and slowly rotted at the top of the tank (where I couldn't see them until they started turning brown).

So... I'm not getting rid of the fish (for a while at least), but I would really like to have at least a somewhat planted tank...

Does anyone have suggestions for how to either plant them firmer or plants that will stick in the gravel better?

I'm afraid goldies are really tough on plants. You could try Java fern or anubias, rubber banded or tied to some bog wood or rock. Most fish will leave those plants alone, although I can't promise!

It might also be worth getting bunches of elodea, as it's quite cheap, knowing that you'll have to replace it; it is good for them though.
