Wanted: Goodeids Or Endler Guppies For Dissertation!

I am about to start my biology dissertation on mating preferences in fish. Am going to see my tutor tomorrow to have a final discussion about how to get started now that I have done some research.

I am thinking of either endler guppies or goodeids, after some helpful comments on here from a topic I posted a couple of months back.

But now I am looking for possibilities of where I can get hold of some fish. Does anyone on here breed them, or are able to get hold of any?

I am not sure on quantities I would need, but I am going to need to do many repeats, so I assume I'll need quite a lot! They will also need to be adult fish, as I don't have enough time to wait for them to mature and for them to get through pregnancy, if I am actually going to write this up!

If anyone can get hold of any please please let me know, and could you also give me an idea on price, because I am going to need to see if I can get everything done on a budget!

Ok Dai Jones is in Bristol and has true endlers and many goodeids

Endlers would be best for numbers as they breed so easily, but your best speeking to him direct I'll find out if it's ok to give you him number. then I'll PM you.

I agree with Alan, Endlers are best, goodeids will require larger tanks and will produce fewer young than endlers. The only potential problem is that the Endlers will retain sperm and will probably be gravid when you get them, unless you get virgin adults which will be very difficult to get hold of reliably unless you raise them yourself.

That said, when you get an idea of how many you need, then post on here and we will see if we can help you.
