Want To Try Cichlids

i have a 120 community tank and im happy with that but my 2 small tanks are limiting to my choice of fishes
so i have decided to get rid of my 2 small tanks and look for a new tank for 'more of a specialised fish' but dont want marine, so have looked at malawi at my local store and they look cool. im just wandering what i need to look for and anyspecial requirements needed for keeping them nice and healthy.

good choice bigstinka.i've kept most fish and malawi's are by far my most favourite.read as much as you can.there are some superb malawi sites to help you.

im from the uk near swindon.

i all ready have a nice well setup tropical community tank and whilst looking in my lfs the malawi cichlids really caught my eye. i have space for another tank looking at a fluval duo deep 1000 or 1200. would these tanks be big enough? and is there any special requirements for these fish? my ph is around 8-8.2.
