Because as they get bigger they get really aggressive and big and they don't even eat algae, they are really meant for a species tank.

I am probably very odd, but I love my sucking loaches They are the most comical fish I have ever owned.

They are both 6 inches in length and have lived in a tank with a ruby shark and some corys all of their lives with no probs, apart from the odd terratorial flash about the tank with the shark.

However I have to say that they are going to a new home this weekend so that I can add my killies to this tank

One day when I am rich and famous I shall set up a retirement home for unwanted CAE's. There must be hundreds of them around. Strictly speaking not their fault that they get sold for purposes to which they are not suited- but they really are NOT community fish. So until the day I start my CAE rescue home- come not near me!

I'm rescuing a pair from a friend this week.. i hate them but its better than hearing how shes gonna flush them..
Its quite unbelieveable how many "who wants a CAE?" are on the buy and sell board!
