Hey guys I want to get some Coryes for my tank. I waswoundering what condisions these fish need? Do they need to be with a mate or tank buddy? Or can the live by themselves with the current fish I have in my tank? Do they eat a special food or can they eat the fish food I currently own? Thanks for the help.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the RTBS. I'm not sure but I'm concerned that he may be aggressive to the cories.

Cories are very adaptable fish and as long as your water quality is good and not at one extreme or the other, they'll be fine. They prefer a sandy bottom tank, but as long as the gravel is rounded and not sharp, they'll be fine.

You should get at least 3 of the same species, they definitely do better in groups.

cories can live in various conditions and many species are quite hardy.

They need hiding spots as they enjoy being in the shade.

Temperature should be around 72-78 although I,m sure they can live in a wider range, but i wouldn't test it. In general, they breed when the temp drops 2-3 degrees.

They will eat pretty much anything they can find as they are scavengers. Leftover flakes, frozen or pellets will be fine. Be sure to feed them some meaty foods as they need it.

I throw in 2-3 pellets a week for mine to complement the flakes and frozen food as they don't get alot of those.

In your 55 gallon, you could have 6 or 7, no less then 3 for sure!

They are in the subspecies "Cleanupicus gravelus". They are the easiest to keep and I have never heard of any problems except with copper medications, and even then they survive.
Check out www.planetcatfish.com for species listings, some of them are indeed interesting.

Great addition to any tank, 3 or more like parker said.

Ok over reading your information. I was also wandering if they will over populate my tank? My mother told me not to get a Clown Loach " but I got one anyway" so will they be ablie to cooperate with my other fish and also will the fish I own at this point of time will cooperate with the coryes? Thanks again
