I just freed up a 10 gallon and I have decided to turn it into a heavily planted tank. However I'm not sure what I need I've used the search option read some of the pinned topics but I still have some questions so here they are.

1. What type of lighting will I need for a 10 gallon. Does anyone have any links for good light setup. Id like to be able to grow pretty much anything if I wanted to.

2. What type of substance would I use and would I also want to use sand or gravel.

3. Would I need C02 and if so what would be a good set up.

4. Is there anything else I need to know that I haven't mentioned.

Thanks for the replies!!

1) if you are wanting to grow anything, then get 20w of T5, or 30w of T8

2) go with tropica, or tetraplant:

3) CO2 is necassary with the above lighting, get a pressurized system. You can use a fire extinghuisher, and a set up costs £80 including a 2kg FE (last you about 1yr!) or you can get ready made kits which are dearer & come with smaller bottles.

4) Fertilisers:

Estimative index (EI) - dose enough nutrients to make sure the plants get enough, then do a 50% water change every week to bring the levels back down.

Tropica plant nutrition+ (TPN+) conatains everything you need, dose daily at 1ml per 20l (can be adjusted to suit your plants needs)

Seachem Flourish - Similar to TPN+, but not as much elements in it.
