I have a Juwel Rekord 60 and have 5 Harlequins, 5 Neons, 1 Platy and 1 Guppy.

I unfortunately have had a bout of dying fish and I haven't a clue what from, but all seems to be stable and has been so for the past 6 wks ish.

Should I wait a little longer before adding some more fish or can I have another one now?? :D

If so what would be compatible with my exisiting fish. Advice would be lovely cos it's cost me a small fortune in replacing fish and I want them to be ok.

I now have a hospital/holding tank so I can use that before putting the new fish in.

Have you tested your water? Over what sort of period did your fish die, you say it's costing a lot to replace fish, how many have died?

Wait for an expert to comment, but I'd hang on to see if "the team" can suggest why you are having a problem and how to fix it before you spend any more money :)

Firstly i would get yourself a good test kit, then post your results on here so we can see what the problem is (if water quality is the problem of course).

How long have you had the tank setup and did you cycle your tank before adding fish?

Personally i would consider your tank pretty much fully stocked. However you could probably squeeze another platy in there :)

I use the Freshmaster Kit (the one with the fishies on it!)

I transferred my fish into a new tank which had been cycled before putting the my exisiting fish in, in Aug. I don't know what the problem was they just died, they didn't show any symptoms one day swimming, feeding, acting normal the next minute dead. I have treated the whole tank with Melafix and Pimafix about 6 wks+ ago and so far all looks normal.

My stats are:

PH 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20-30
Temp 25-26

My ph has always been that high, don't know why but I thought it was better to leave it rather than play around with chemicals.

Since aug I've lost

2 Platys (old fish transferred into new tank)
1 Guppy (new fish added)
3 Corys (new fishies added)
:rip:

I've lost other fish before this but it was in a different tank, so I'm not including them.

This is what I can remember I think there maybe another one but I forget

Suggestions??
