As of right now I have just a tiny 6 US Gallon tank and would like to get a second tank. I found a used one for sale that is a 55US Gallon tank, glass, no scratches or cracks and was wondering if this would be a good size? The owner told me it was standard dimensions so I'm assuming 48"x13"x20" or something close to that. He'll sell it to me for $100 including decorations, rocks, heater and basically everything he had in it. So is this a good fit for price and my level of expertise or lack of... Also considering that i'm just starting our pretty much, with this size of a tank, what would be the ideal setup, fresh water or salt water? And yes I understand that a salt water tank takes more work. Thanks

Hi, and welcome to the forum. A salt water tank not only takes more work. It's much much more difficult to maintain properly and is definitely not recommended for beginners. Get a few years keeping freshwater under your belt first. :good:

I know if I found someone offering a 55gal tank in great shape with stand and necessary equipment for $100 I would be on it right quick! Even if I had to wait a while to get it set up. Would make for a beautiful freshwater community tank :fish: :fish: :fish:

Ok so now that i've really started looking, I have found a 75 Gallon tank brand new for 169.99 48"x18" and unsure of the height. It's also a glass tank. I guess my question is if I get the brand new tank, how much will I be spending afterwards on filters, lighting and any other equipment I need? Or should I just get a used 55Gallon tank with some extras included?
