I was thinking about starting to keep discus. I have been planning on redoing my tank for a long while now, and i have decided on may be doing discus. I currently have this for a tank set up:

60 Gallon Tank
Set Up for 7 months
Perfect water quality
7.6 pH
LOTS of live plants (extra filtration)
Rena xp2 Cannitser Filter
Magnum 350 Cannister Filter (Switching to just using it for micon cartirdge)

The Food:
Frozen Brine shrimp
Frozen Blood Worms
Frozen White Blood Worms
Wardley Tropical Color Enhancing Flakes
Omega ONE Tropical Color Enhancing Flakes
Wardley Shrimp Pellets
Omega ONE Shrimp Pellets
HBH Super Soft Pelet w/ Krill
Omega ONE Tropical Pellets

The ornaments are varied, i have real driftwood, rockwork, fakes, everything, so whatever i would need i will use... all up to everyone else :)

The fish i CURRENTLY am keeping in it are:

2 Angel Fish (both 4 inches)
30 Neon Tetra
1 Synodontis Eupterus (4 inches)
1 Striped Raphael *can move if needed
1 Bolivian Ram (2 inches)
1 Gold Ram (2 inches)
1 Blue Ram (2 inches)

So i was looking into keeping the tank with Discus Added, since i read they love to be with neon tetra, i thought id keep them in there. I was wondering, what do i need to do, in terms of decorations, fish mates, setting up everything, ANYTHING you can tell me. I have been reasearching for days, and i will keep researching. How many discus could i get in the tank ?(minus the striped if needed)? All that will be going into the tank now would be discus, no more fish (may be a few more neons later, if i feel its needed). PLEASE help me with any info you have! How also am i to introduce them, get them individually or get thema ll at once (individually would be easy, all the stores aorund here with them have usually one at a time) I think discus are wonderful looking fish and iwould love to have them in the tank if possible! Also, my angels arent pigs, they eat fine, but not pushing out any other fish out of the way, even when my tank have many mroe fish in it, like tetras and rainbows and whatnot. Thank you!

P.S. - Anything else you need to know to help me out, wlel just ask!

you might want to remove all those neon tetra from ur tank and the pair of angel. They r not very good tank mate for discus. Instead of neon u should add cardinal tetra. Discus tank water need to be hot above 85f is the best. I really dont like keeping discus with other tank mate they should be house alone as its alot most easier to take care if disease strike. Ur food diet seems ok but for discus a home made beef heart is really they most fravoit food over all. good luck to ya.

Ok i mean i guess i could try to move the angels out to some other tank, but i heard that they were ok with neon tetras, i see them all the time in pictures. Anyone else have any ideas?

no...what you see in most pics are cardinal tetras, the look very similar, but cardinals get larger and handle the warmer water better. neons many times are eaten by discus.

isn't you pH a little high for discus? dont have them myself but would love to get some oneday :)

discus can really be raised in any ph, as long as it stays constant all the time.
