Waldorfs Laying Eggs!

ahh sheila thank you!

in regards to microworms - i have only ever had problems with them! i can never mix the stuff right and end up with a stinking pile of soggy porridge with one or two worms thats it! plus all the oscar sites ive been reading up on recommend feeding baby brine shrimp!!!

fingers crossed for me peeps! two days and the hatching 'should' begin.......

lol you crazy woman! on one site it did say to add some mela something blue but i dont have any :( but so far so good, no mould! just searching for brine shrimp eggs! so blooming hard to find them locally! may have to get fella to drive me to the city!

I wouldnt add any methlane blue, it kills filter bacteria and you dont want that at this time. Just relax and let nature take its course. I woke up to hundreds of texas cichlid fry

they arent in a filtered container at the moment, i read that i only needed an airline in there, then once they hatch they go into a filtered fry tank. do you think it needs a filter in there now??

got everything crossed for you love xx
no u wont need a filter,as theres nothing to filter just yet, i was told the same ( no filter.only airline, when i had convict fry))

got up today and there is lots of mould surrounding most of the eggs, i dont think its worth trying to pick them off as only about 5 are untouched by it. :-(

AWWW

dont worry, try the meth blue next time,, if you cant get any, gimme a shout, really sorry this has happened, but thers always next time :)

sorry about that, at least you know there a pair now they should be spawning regular from now on youll get it right im sure
regards scot :good:

Sounds like the first batch was a trial and the eggs were not atually fertilised. When I have removed eggs I have not used any fungus meds and only a small percentage of the eggs ever got it.

well ive ditched the eggs, when i pulled the pot out of the water there was not just mould (white fluffy) but a totally see through jelly covering the whole batch.

i do think the majority were fertilised, i saw mr doing his wiggles and about 2/3 of the eggs went a nice tan colour after about 12 hours. the rest reamained white.

T - next time do you think i should leave them with parents so they 'learn' not to eat them (someone told me if i keep taking eggs they will never learn to rear young?) or should i try again removing them?

just leave them

eventually you will get some fry and the parents will take control of the situation...

your texas fry....werent from ur red texas were they???????

Nope just regular texas. My red probably would kill a female.

Spishkey yep I would leave them with the parents the next few batches and see how they do. Dont be disheartened as they should get it right eventually and if not you can pull the eggs when your sure they are fertile.
