One of my female platies recently decided to turn into a male. She now has the whole male gonopodium thing happening. I was a bit sad but hey, its not like shes changed into some weird mutant fish species or anything :p ANYWAYS...after her sex change HE was clamping her/his fins a bit. So I moved her/him into quar tank (with salt) where he'she is no longer clamping and is swimming and eating fine.....YAY!!!

Next. The eldest of my platy fry (now an adult male) appeared to have white stuff on his side that kinda spread to the top of him near his dorsal fin. It wasn't cottony just kinda like a thin white filmy hazy stuff. He was otherwise normal (chasing every female in sight and acting like a typical psycho male fish...eating fine too)...so he went into quar as well....pretty much at the same time as my new shemale!!! That was yesterday.....I can allready see an improvement in the white hazy stuff.....

NEXT. I noticed my tuxedo male platy was clamping a bit. I couldn't discern anything wrong as he was acting normally otherwise....hes always been a nervous fish but still...normal. A little while ago he stopped clamping and I notice a LARGE chunk has been taken out of his tail. Just the bit where the rays are, kinda at the edge like a semi-circle. This wasn't like this yesterday (I check my fish for illness CONSTANTLY)....so into the quarantine tank he went.

SOO.....three males in quar tank, with salt. Hmmm.....AND my newish (4 weeks) white platy has taken a liking to my pregnant twinbar platy....hmmm...

Was it a plot on his behalf to get rid of the males in the tank so he could have hjer all to himself?????

Just a thought :p

Yes, the universe is out to kill your fish as some secret ploy to tamper with your min. :p

White fuzzy stuff is most likely fungus, you are no doubt traetig it.

Clamped fins, better water quality.

Nipping, find out what did it and good water quality.
