I visited Derek today, he's a local breeder around my parts who got a federal grant to renovate his house in order to accomodate his huge breeding facilities. Also has a warehouse that he says he'll show me later, but today I just saw his house. It was awesome.
Some stuff I saw (most of which he's breeding):
Rummy nose RASBORA
Long Fin Bristlenose
Huge Endler Stock
Black Emperor Tetra
Red Emperor Tetra
Blue Jack Dempsi
Indian Red Torpedo Barb/Shark
Sterbai Cory (and albinos!)
German Rams
6 Breeding pairs of different strains of angel fish (not to mention lots of unpaired angels)
Halfbeaks
Scarlet Badis
Dwarf Emerald Microrasbora (microrasbora erythromicron)
Various Synodontus sp.
Various species of mexican livebearer that are endangered or extinct in the wild
Orange Throated Severum
Orange line aeunus cory, and separately, green line aenus (also LF albino and bronze aenus)
Thousands of guppies and various pure strains
Several other danio, barb and rasbora species
A species of tetra that has yet to even be asigned a scientific name
There was lots of other stuff too. He gave me a huge bag ful of licorice gourami. Said that they were too troublesome to breed, so I could have them. Also gave me a bag with 7 microrasbora erythromicron, because I showed so much interest. He said that next time I visit him we can go to the wharehouse and he can get me a few fish of a different microrasbora species as well, the type with the horizontal stripes (not maculata).
He's such an awesome guy, who is working so hard because he wants to give back to the hobby. He really cares that the hobby can be healthy here in Hawaii, with lots of species available to hobbyists and more reasonable prices-- he also cares a lot about reducing the strain on the wild populations, so he feels that it is the obligation not to just be in the hobby, but give back to it by breeding the fish and not just letting them sit in your tank. He's such a cool guy.
I got some pics, so I'll be posting later! You just got to see the photos I got of his downstairs filled with 55g+ tanks, and another photo I took of his son waving to me in his fish room packed with 10-20g's.
