I just jarred the opaque plakat fry from the spawn tank, cleaned it out, and put Viridian and Verdigris, my green/blue marble plakats, in there. They're together right now but I will probably put Verdigris in the vase if Viridian starts getting mean before the bubblenest is built. They've been conditioning ever since I got them which was about a month ago, I think. I gave them the works; IAL, Attison's pellets, and lots of frozen food, and tanks in sight of each other.

In the divided tank they were in when I first got them.

Fingers crossed for me, please! :D

Oh my God. He killed her.

I released them before I went to church this morning. I figured I'd only be gone an hour and the tank is an absolute JUNGLE there are so many hiding places. I came home with a bubblenest in the corner but my poor little girl was wedged in between the tank and the filter, dead.

I feel so awful, and am absolutely devastated. :(

OMG so sorry. Perhaps she was hiding and got stuck!

that has just put me off mating fish now....so sorry for your beautiful girl lol xx

So you left a male and female PK together before the nest was built and before the female was showing mating stripes? If thats the case (thats how it reads) then what did you expect?

You dont put the two together until A) nest is built B) female is showing mating stripes. Even then you need to watch them right up to the point when mating commences and remove the female after mating is complete.

No need to be snotty when they just lost their fish. You could've put that in a lot less rude manner. Mistakes are made, and unfortunatly, something bad happened from this one (if things weren't optimal for mating).

Anyways... I'm so sorry your poor little gal died :( She was such a cute little fish.

Please don't preach to me. Even though I don't need to defend myself against you, I had the female vased since yesterday. The male had the beginnings of a bubblenest and the female was acting ready to breed (flaring at the male and trying to get to him; she is a marble and she either doesn't get stripes or they just don't show up on her). I was around for about a half hour before I left and they were acting fine. I came back an hour later and found her dead.

To the rest of you, thank you for your sympathy.

as you can see, she knows more about spawning than you thought. no need to be rude and sarcastic. lisie knows what she's doing. betta breeding is not straightforward and sometimes deaths happen...

I don't post alot, but in Lisie's defense, I am. Lisie knows what she is doing. Accidents happen. This clearly was an accident. Lisie loves her fish and would not let something like this happen due to her lack of knowledge. She knows alot.

Lisie, I am soooo sorry you lost such a pretty girl. RIP Verdigris.

That was rude, and totally uncalled for! Lisie is a wonderful person who knows more about breeding then you ever will, she has had quite a few successful spawns that have produced some gorgeous offspring, and it was wrong of you to b*tch at her without knowing any of the facts, and I'm sorry to come accross harsh, but what you said just made me so angry!

And Lisie... I'm so sorry you lost your girl, she was a gorgeous fish, and I'm, in fact I know you did everything right, but accidents happen. *hugs* for you and :rip: beautiful girl.
