Very Tiny Cold Water Setup

Ok so I'm setting up this weird glass thing I found. Its oddly shaped and probably about 16oz. My plan is to put a layer of sand in the bottom then some small plants that I'll plant with long tweasers (can't get hand in the tank). Does anyone have any cold water suggestions for plants? The area that can be planted is circle about 3.5 to 4 inches in diameter. I was also wondering if that area would be big enough for a ghost shrimp. Any ideas? I would like a mossy plant that will climb out of the glass too. It is really hard to explain what the tank looks like. Its kind of a glass ball with a tube on the side of it. There would be no way to heat it. It will only be receiving low light from the sun, as it will be on my window sil. Any suggestions for plants? or a cold water tiny cleaner such as a snail. wouldnt this be better in the planted section? Sounds like fresh water to me rather than mairne
