I just bought a new platy and now I see that when he faces me directly, that his body is very thin and skinny. Is he starved or does he have some kind of disease?
It is probably a internal parasite. I have never had any fish besides platies get them. Is he a red wag platy? They always get it when i have them. If he still eat's, go to petsmart and get the Medicated Anti-Parasite Food for 5.99 by Jungle Labs. Got any pic's?
Apparently vegies help as well. I've heard a lot of people recommend peas. I cleared some parasites out of a platy with lettuce and broccoli stems - she loves broccoli stems.
A skinny fish means fish tb, internal parsites to old age.
Internal parasite signs are.
Long stringy white poo.
Being thin.
Bent spine.
Red inflamed or enlarged anus.
Livebearers are prone to camallanous worms, they are red and will see them prutruding from the anus. http/www.skepticalaquarist.com/docs/health/nematodes.shtml
Nevermind, I dont think he has parasites. He isnt too thin. Its just for the past couple of months I have only had female platies, so I forgot the males are somewhat skinnier.
