So, a while back I bought some red cherry shrimp off of a guy. I put them in a ten gallon which was set up for a month already, and just waited to find something that caught my eye. Either way, all but five of the shrimp died in the first day so I took those shrimp out and put them in a container on my desktop. They're living very happily now and have molted several times.

Anyways, I looked in the tank and at a certain angle, I noticed there were some scratches on it. I got a closer look to see that these weren't scratches at all, but actually a creature which reminds me of a white, aquatic centipede. There's literally hundreds of these guys and I never really noticed them until now. Are these guys a possible hazzard to my fish or shrimp? Where did they come from?
There's Java Moss and a ton of small snails, could these be tied to these weird things?

I'd like to know if these guys are a problem or not, so I can know if I can put them in my tank with my larger, more expensive fish, or if it could be a serious problem. The centipedes are, like I said, white, and up to an inch long.
Any suggestions and pictures would be a great help.

In the tropical discussion forum there is a pinned post called hitchhikers in freshwater tanks and ponds...worth a try.

Sounds like planaria. Is this a new tank? Check out planaria on line and if it is a match, don't worry they will disappear on their own with good waterkeeping practices.
