hi i have aquired a small 15ltr hexagon shape tank with heater etc!
just wondered if there were any weird and wonderful fish that could go in there? i know its really small but someone might know what to put in it?
any ideas welcome :D

a dwarf puffer fish? :)

15 litres is about 4 US gallons.

There really not much that would be happy in there except perhaps cherry shrimp or snails.

I wouldn't recommend a dwarf puffer because they're not hardy enough to cope with the extreme and fast changes in conditions that will occour in such a small tank.

hi thought about a betta, but dont like keeping fish on their own, and these have to be solitary due to their aggresive behaviour.
thanks anyway, anymore ideas please?

Shrimps or african dwarf frogs?

But I agree with dwarfgourami, that tank is screaming for a wonderful betta.

You're after nothing short of a miracle if you want to keep more than 1 kind of fish in a 15l to be honest.

In the past I have kept a betta in a small community tank and had no problems sat all. It is when you have a very overcrowded tank or 2 males in 1 tank that you have problems.

You could have a male and female betta

you could not!
the male would aways harrass the female to breed and she
will either die due to a stress related disease or kill the male.

Please don't make uneducated statements like that, some one may actually listen to you.

As has been said in a tank that small you are very limited.
1 ADF
a few shrimps
or 1 male betta.

Unless you can be happy with the suggestions from The-Wolf like one betta (which if you haven't had them are extremely interesting characters), then you really need to buy a larger tank. Don't mean to be a jerk (although I guess I am at times), but it sound's like you won't be happy unless you have a couple of schools. Maybe you can find a good 20 gallon starter kit and sell you current setup to a betta lover. Good luck in your decision.

hi thanks for all advice!

im thinking maybe one male betta and 4 pygmy cories- to many fish??

i might just keep this tank as a hospital tank, still undecided!
thanks again x x x

too many fish

the pygmy cories might do in there, but you would still have water quality issues to keep an eye on.

i'd personally just go with several small and cheap shrimp. they're surprisingly interesting.

hey got the tank
its empty at the minute, i think im just going to keep it as a hospital tank, i have a small heater, underwater filter, plastic plants, gravel, light etc.
do i need anything else for it? also do i just keep it empty, till i need to use it as a hospital tank, (hopefuly i wont need it very often!)?
thanks for ideas
