Very Dirty Tank

hello. we've just returned home from a 3 week vacation. the woman who was housesitting did not do anything with the tank, other than add food. the tank is filthy dirty with black and green muck everywhere. how should i best clean this? i'm afraid that i'll make it even worse! btw - my water chem levels are perfect - for the 1st time!

try vaccuming and using an algae scraper can help. oh and doing a waterchange might help

Clean all the algae off of everything, then do around a 40% water change.

similar for me, just came back from france for two weeks, and because of the sze of my tank (only 4.5 soon to be changed just got to wait alittle longer) it gets dirty very quickly and i removed the larger decor like the bogwood, and vac'ed the gravel like usual did a 40 % water change and am going to repeat today to get the last,
