Hmm what if I put a very very big goldfish in there with the red tail cat? and feed it with betta's

Yes, of course! Remember though, buy them when they're are in those small tanks and have no room to move, and it dosen't matter is some of them have whitespots on them or are extremely bloated, it won't harm your red tailed cat at all!
