Hi there, I've just registered in the hope someone can solve my question!

I have an aqualantis 180l tanks with built in filtration , it came with a standard size jewel filter sponge. My question is that in the instruction for set up it say to place sponge in middle of the holding. Initially the filter stayed where i had placed it, but now over last few days, it is sinking right to the bottom??

Is this normal or should it stay up in the middle area? Thanks and apologies if I'm just being really stupid!

I've not got an Aqualantis tank, but do have a Jewel one. I asume the filter is the same as you have a jewel sponge. Basicly the filter is a black box in the back corner of the tank with space for the heater, a pump that sits on the top and sponges inside. Does this sound the same?

I think the problem may be due to not having enough sponges, the filter should be quite full. When new the Jewel tanks come with 6 (i think) seperate sponges that almost fill the inside of the filter. Getting more sponges will stop the one you have from moving and give a much larger area for the bacteria to live on.

Hopefully this makes sence and helps a bit. My tip for replacing the sponges is not to buy the expensive Jewel ones but get cheap pond filter sponges and cut them to size with scissors.

Thanks v v much thought I was going mad> On mine there's a compartment for water pump on the left, space for sponges in the middle and the heater on the right side. I'll add another sponge in and see how it goes.
