I have a top for my aquarium that can be seen in a picture below.
It's a nice appearance, but I'm worried about what this kind of cover will do to a biowheel filter, which is the filtration I plan to use.
It's a heavy, smooth, and decently fitting lid for the 40Gal Breeder, but I'm not sure of whether I should be celebrating yet.
So, It's a sincerely simplistic, glassy lid. It covers the majority of the top of the tank. It would seal off a terrifying amount of aeration, if there weren't little pads on the underside of the hinges that keep it angled, allowing some, at least, air flow.
That black bar that spans across the length of the tank is the "Hinge" area. (It's a very simple lid design... Two planes of glass and a little flexible piece of rubber - the hinge - between them) ._.
This thing that you see my hand gripping is essentially a handle to pull the lid up by. It uses nothing more than a wedging force to hold itself in place. (It's attached to the lid, in this picture)
I don't know whether a section of the top has to have an opening, in order to hold a biowheel, but it only seems logical. In the case of this lid, I would have to perform some alterations to get an opening set. Scary stuff, for me ><
It has been so long, since I owned a tank. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, everyone.
(EDIT - I don't necessarily want to link anyone to offsite pictures, but the ones I took may not make it clear to you. The name of this tank top design, along with my description, should help you find pictures via a search engine. Thanks, everyone, for the patience. I hope I'm not asking something blatantly stupid here.)
