I noticed that one of my neons looked a bit sick last night. I bought 2 new ones yesterday and added them to the tank, and I'm pretty sure this isn't one of the new ones. Last night, I noticed the fish has lost a lot of his color, and his shiny appearance. He wasn't swimming much, and seemed to let the current float him along. I checked the water ..... 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, alkalinity and hardess were both in 'safe' levels. The nitrates were up, around 40 ppm, and my little chart says that's a safe level as well. pH is high, 8.2, but that's where my tank stays, the tap water here has high pH.
I added some stress coat to the water, and also did a small water change, I had water already aged and treated.
Today, he looks better, but appears to have a few "spots" on him. They are yellow/tan, small bumps elevated off his skin. From the fish diagnostic sheet I have, it's telling me he may have velvet. It says to treat with Maracyn, and I have Maracyn. I'd have dropped it in the tank by now, but I also have a VERY pregnant guppy in the same tank. So I'm not sure exactly how to proceed from here. I do have a second 10 gallon tank that has only guppies in it. I'd move the female and treat the tank, but I'm afraid to move her at this point. I'm not sure what to do next. Any help, info, suggestions would really be appreciated. Thanks .... Oh ya, the tank (10 gallons) has been fully cycled for over a month now, and I tested the water less than a week ago, and it was 0 ammonia, nitrites, nitrates.
