Velvet Problems

I know this might sound dumb but I just want to make sure. I just bought come velvet medicine. It's blue colored drops. I changed the water and I'm about to add the drops. Does the fish need to be in the tank or not?

can you mix it up seperately (in a pitcher)and then add it to his water while he's in the bowl?

well the directions just say to do a 1/4 water change and then add the drops. Since they are blue though my water turn blue as well. So I have blue tinted water. I could mix it though in a seperate bowl though if thats better

be careful with the medicine, if it has malachite green in it don't get any on your hands as it can cause cancer.
