Like you i have heard that apple and even banana can be fed to your fish.. No idea if it's true or how you would present it though..

come on then davey, how would you do it and il give it a go lol, :good:

Theres no prob giving your fish most of these things. As long as you don't put too much in so it rots after a couple days (would be bad.....ie would bomb your tank) and only put enough in for your fish to eat in one meal (say 5 minutes should be gone) these things would actually be good for fish. Contain good nutrients and lots of energy. The most common veggies that people feed are letuce and cucumber. Plecos especially love the cucumber. You can also do peas, another very popular veggie. The peas are good to help the fish's digestive tract (contains lots of fiber).

Experiment and see what your fish like :good:

every now and again i put a slice of cucumber in for my fish.
i usually get it to sink to the bottom by putting (i think its lead) the stuff tht comes around the bottom of your plants
the fish love it but if its not eaten within a couple of hours it begins to turn the water cloudy

about an inch thick piece of cucumber every few days (weighted down with a plant weight - lead) goes down a treat in my tank. Nothing seems to want to eat lettuce (can't blame them) and peas don't seem overly popular. Just tried blanched potato - my clowns and sae's love it - still experimenting

My angel in particualr loves to eat bannanas, I just got her and she is only a baby and attacks it like it is the first time she has ever seen food. Just stick a lead wieght through about 2 slices( 1/2 a centimeter wide) and drop in your tank and enjoy!

my crab sit sit and eat carrots for a good 5 hours

Going to give it a go today with a bit of apple, all my fish love cucumber, courgette/zucinni & pea's. I've never tried fruit or lettuce though.. ;)

I keep some cut rounds of zucchini in the freezer for my kissing gourami, blanch one and float it in the tank every couple of days, he loves it. I used to have a couple of big plecs that would gobble up a half of a medium zucchini a day if you let them, got some plastic veggie clips with suction cups to attach to the tank side that worked great. Also had a CAE that would defend his zucchini from any fish that went near it. Peas were always very popular with the goldfish though I've never seen much interest from anything else.

Will have to try the fruits and potatoes, I've been looking for more foods to vary my kisser's diet a bit more. I wonder if a hard winter squash like pumpkin would work as well? I'm swamped with the things, might as well try it.

banana???? surley that'd just go mushy and dissentegrate in the water :/

I keep some in the freezer as well, I chop up a courgette, blanch it and put it into a box in the freezer that i keep various frozen food cubes in. I do the same to peas, blanch them sqeeze them out of there skin and pop them back into the freezer. :good:
