i have 8 yellow labs what food do i get them? can anyone give me a link to some pls preferably 1ml sinking pellets or a flake of some sort T.I.A :good:

L.caeruleus can handle a bit more "meat" in their diet than most mbuna as they feed mostly on small crustaceans in the wild. I've used New Life Spectrum cichlid formula, Hikari Cichlid Staple (the green bag, and there's also a veggie formula that's good), spirulina flakes, and mine really liked Tetra's MicroCrabs Cyclop-EEZE granules. They also really enjoyed frozen brine shrimp on occasion too. :good:

ok i thought they wasnt allowed to eat any meat at all lol

Well you don't want to feed them bloodworm or anything like that, but as I said, labs are different from other mbuna in that they primarily feed on crustaceans which is why they have such small mouths in comparison.
Here's a great article on them: <a href="http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/l_caeruleus.php" target="_blank">http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/l_caeruleus.php</a>

great link thank you

When you're looking to feed your fish (preferably before you buy them) look and see if they are herbivores, ominvores, or carnivores. 2 of mine are carns and 1 is an omn. so I feed a meaty protein pellet to mine...but if I get a species that only eats vegetable matter then I may not do that so much as I don't want the herbs to get sick "malawi bloat" from too much meat. I feed mine brine shrimp once in awhile. They love it.....but then they LOVE every food I throw in the tank
