my valls wont stand up...each plant has a few leaves that seem to be weak and are limp in the tank. do i just need to trim these off and let the smaller healthier ones grow??

Vallis is a true aquatic plant and is unable to support its own weight when taken out of the water. If the plants are falling over when out of water then that is normal. If the plants are falling over in the aquarium (under water) then there is something wrong with them. Generally tho the sick or dieing leaves will go brown and turn to mush. If the leaves are green and firm then they are fine and healthy.

It sounds like you might have nutrient deficiency. To test pull on a leaf and if it breaks without any pressure you have a Trace elements or potassium deficiency. I would suggest buying some liquid fertilizers.

thanks, i bought some today and added the recomended dosage to my big tank and less than for my small 3 gallon shrimp tank. hopefuly the plants will thrive
