I have looked through these forums but am left a little confused.

I have a few bunches of Vallis..... Do i need to put them into the gravel or they need to be attached with stone or wood?

Please could someone clarify.

Thanks.

Bury the roots in the substrate, do not bury the crown. The top of the roots should be visible.
Oh, and unbunch them, they will produce runners like crazy so if you don't want your tank overrun you will keep an eye on that...

Can you expand on the bit about roots and crown please.....and also your meaning of roots should be visible if you said to bury them lol!

at the moment they are bunched.... if i unbunch them i think they would not stay in the gravel....
PS - i smy standard lighting ok... i have bought some easycarb and some other stuff to add to it, i forgot the name, but it goes well with the easycarb.

Just whipped this up...

Thanks, thats helpful will look at it tonight.

On the subject, will easycarb and such be good for these, I have heard mixed opinions.

Iv just planted about 20 in my tank, but the crown is below the sand, cause when i tried to have the crown shown they just pulled up and floated?

im i doing something wrong

The roots on mine are about 3" long. If you float them on the surface for a while then the roots will grow more quicky because it will desperately try to root.

Any by a while I mean about a day or 2.

how do i plant them after, just push the root in and cover with sand?
Yeah, get the roots horizontal on the sand, then take 2 fingers and push straight down on them and they will go in easy.
Stir the sand where you are planting before doing this to make it soft and easier to push into to stop the roots from beibg damaged.

If you have gravel then just dig a small hole, put the roots in then cover them up again.

Cheers iv re-planted them again tonight, coz when i pule them out they had grown quite a bit over night?

how they was!

So did you float them for the roots to grow more, I am left a little confused by your post lol

should I take mine back out from the gravel as my roots are noway near 3" or near....

If your plants are staying put then I would just leave them be. The problem sjolliff was having was that the plants were floating up cos the roots weren't long enough.

Mine are staying put because I have probably put a lot of the plant in gravel, maybe the crown as well :S
