Ok, a lot of my vallis is getting on for 4 feet now... as the tank is only 2 feet high the water surface it slowly getting blocked off. Whereas this is good to a degree, I don't want all my other plants dying from lack of light.

So, is there a way to trim vallis that it does not look like crap? I get the impression if I just go chop the ends off, it is going to look ####e... am I right?

Thanks. You gave me an idea - nail clippers! with a small pair I should get nice rounded edges... :D

Just tried it... and had to resort to normal scissors.... the edges of nail clippers aren't quite rounded enough and the "jaws" don't open far enough... easier just twisting a pair of scissors while cutting.

Looking better now that it is trimmed back a bit. Was worried would ruin it and have to throw it all out.

1) Cut off the outside leaves at the base, leaving the inner ones which are shorter

2) Switch your Vals sp, and get something that doesn't grow so tall. Vallisneria Spiralis for instance.
